The In’s and Out’s Of The Piano
Knowing piano theory is not a requirement to being a great musician. But is sure does help.
If you want to be an ok musician or piano player then you don’t need to worry about theory. But, if you want to be great (which I’m sure you do) then you need to know it.
Theory is all about how music works. Its like a good tool. If you don’t know how to use it then it’s no use to you.
Here we are going to talk about the rules of music. Once you know the basic rules of music you can start to really understand how music and tones come together.
A lot of people try to learn to play without focussing on theory. This is fine, but it’s hard to really understand what you are doing when you play and why tones go together and so on.
Music has a blueprint and it needs to be followed to make it work. If you don’t know how to read the blueprint then you’ll find yourself lost and confused.
Check out the piano keyboard diagram to see a chart that shows how the piano repeats itself over and over again.
And if you are wondering how to name the notes on your specific keyboard or piano, look at the keyboard layout.
At first, I learned to play without worrying about theory. I could play, but I didn’t really understand what I was plying or why.
